Seville, 8 January 2011. The Focus-Abengoa Foundation has launched a public grant program for employing professionals with disabilities, which is open to all companies that are registered or that have their main centre in Spain and that meet the necessary requirements. The Foundation hopes that this new initiative will help to promote an open and inclusive employment environment for professionals with disabilities.

The program is worth 250,000 Euros, which will be distributed as 50 individual grants of 5,000 Euros each.

This program supplements the important work that the Focus-Abengoa Foundation has carried out for many years supporting people with disabilities in the area of professional training, work placements and employment creation, which is designed to promote and facilitate the integration of these professionals in the employment market.

The terms and conditions of the program can be found on the Focus-Abengoa Foundation website (http://focus.abengoa.es) and include the essential requirements for companies that want to apply for these grants, the application form and details of the ten-day deadline for submitting applications. The program’s email is: ayudadisc@focus.abengoa.com.

The Focus-Abengoa Foundation was created in 1982 as a result of the cultural work begun in 1972 by Abengoa with the publication of the works Temas Sevillanos (Themes of Seville) and Iconografía de Sevilla (Iconography of Seville). A collection of documents, books and engravings on the Kingdom of Seville and by Sevillian authors was created during the same period. This initial cultural work showed Abengoa’s directors the importance of the company’s involvement in activities that directly benefit society, beyond its core technology work, which led to the creation of the Seville Cultural Fund Foundation. Furthermore, in 2007, thanks to the acquisition of the Santa Rufina, the Focus-Abengoa Foundation created the Velázquez Centre, which has become a focal point for research, reflection and popularising the work of the Sevillian painter.
